August 24, 2010– Rachel of sweet tarte decided on Crunchy and Custardy Peach Tart on pages 346 and 347 from Baking From My Home To Yours By Dorie Greenspan.
It isn’t peach season in Australia right now but we had some lovely cherries in season so they seemed a good sub (did you notice that this tart was so peach focused that no other fruit made the suggestion list). Anyway the cherries were fantastic. My boys thought so too- they also enjoyed them fresh and even more so when they realised mum was getting rid of the pesky seed.
The tiny splash of almond extract really came through in the custard filling. And the crunchy topping- well, I have already admitted a weakness for crunchy topping in last weeks post.
