TWD- Bundy Rum Bread Pudding

February 8, 2011 – Sharon from Simply Southern chose Bourbon Bread Pudding on page 407 from Baking From My Home To Yours by Dorie Greenspan.

I realised we were out of bourbon and given I am 34 weeks pregnant going into a liquor store sounds like the set up for a silly joke.  We had a bit of lovely dark rum at home and so for the 1/2 Tbsp required for my half batch I made due.

I am posting this a bit late on the Tuesday evening as my good husband really, really loves bread pudding.  He has been away on a charity bike ride between Vietnam and Cambodia for the Mine Advisory Group.  I wanted to share this with him and he only got home this morning.

I liked this pudding but I do like a bit more custard to my bread.  This also took (even as a half batch) 20 more minutes to bake up.

Now go and check the TWD blogroll for the other lovely puddings out there.

  1. Wow cool your husband is off on an adventure like that! Im glad the pudding turned out, it looks yummy! Yep stay out of the liquor stores!

  2. I used rum too, but I must have miscalculated something, as mine was very custardy. I liked it too, but I also like the idea of adding a sauce, as some have been doing.

  3. Looks pretty tasty. 🙂

  4. nice way to welcome your husband home! rum sounds like the perfect swap.
