February 8, 2011 – Sharon from Simply Southern chose Bourbon Bread Pudding on page 407 from Baking From My Home To Yours by Dorie Greenspan.
I realised we were out of bourbon and given I am 34 weeks pregnant going into a liquor store sounds like the set up for a silly joke. We had a bit of lovely dark rum at home and so for the 1/2 Tbsp required for my half batch I made due.
I am posting this a bit late on the Tuesday evening as my good husband really, really loves bread pudding. He has been away on a charity bike ride between Vietnam and Cambodia for the Mine Advisory Group. I wanted to share this with him and he only got home this morning.
I liked this pudding but I do like a bit more custard to my bread. This also took (even as a half batch) 20 more minutes to bake up.
