TWD- A Tourtely Apple Tart

April 19, 2011 – Jeanette of  The Whimsical Cupcake chose A Tourtely Apple Tart on pages 306 and 307 of BFMHTY for this weeks TWD bake.

Essentially this is a nutty thin shortbread filled with an apple (and a couple of slightly bruised pears the boys declined to eat) that has been cooked up and had the juices reduced.  But is it dry- heavens no.  The healthy dollop of butter mixed through the apple mixture prevented that.

Can I say this was the neatest slicing pie/tart I have ever made.  My crust even looked neat and tidy- a minor miracle working in the Darwin heat.

The slice above was cut by our own Princess Chloe- my lovely niece assisted by my brother Michael (who informed us she wasn’t a real princess because her tiara was only a toy).

All in all a winner.  Great pick!  Now check out the TWD blogroll and see what the other bakers thought.
